Maintenance Management Certification

A certified Maintenance Management Professional (MMP) is an invaluable addition to organizations in almost every industry – most notably oil and gas, energy, and manufacturing. But there is no question that certified Maintenance Management Professionals play a crucial role in establishing financial sustainability for governmental departments and agencies, universities and colleges, hospitals, and airports. Hotels, resorts, and property management companies also see excellent ROI from having a Maintenance Management Professional on staff.

Even the most experienced maintenance manager can’t just declare themselves an MMP based on their experience – at least not in Canada. The MMP designation requires the completion of specialized training as per the guidelines established by the Plant Engineering and Maintenance Association of Canada (PEMAC):

“The Maintenance Management Professional certificate program focuses on the tools, techniques, strategies and skills necessary for effective management of a business’s existing physical assets. Graduates have the knowledge and skills to drive improvements in up-time, production capacity, equipment reliability, safety, environmental compliance, economic life of assets, return on investment and effective communication between departments.” 1.

According to Payscale.com the salary range of a certified MMP in Canada is $54k-$88k. The median salary of a certified MPP in Canada is just over $74,000:

“An early career Maintenance Manager with 1-4 years of experience earns an average total compensation (includes tips, bonus, and overtime pay) of C$54,274 based on 161 salaries. A mid-career Maintenance Manager with 5-9 years of experience earns an average total compensation of C$66,213 based on 163 salaries. An experienced Maintenance Manager with 10-19 years of experience earns an average total compensation of C$82,804 based on 238 salaries. In their late career (20 years and higher), employees earn an average total compensation of C$87,823.”  2.
